Founded in 1996, Sun Chi is driven by a singular mission: to craft exceptional noodles while preserving the rich cultural heritage of Taiwan. We proudly honor the time-tested tradition of natural sun-drying, seamlessly pairing it with modern production facilities and rigorous quality control.
Over the decades, our flagship brand, Sun Chi Guan Miao Noodle, has grown from a local favorite into a globally recognized name. Today, with a diverse product portfolio centering on Guanmiao noodles, Nabeyaki Yee Mee Noodle (instant fried noodles), and Qu Mee (instant noodles), we stand as an iconic Taiwanese noodle brand—trusted by major food conglomerates, leading retail chains, and international markets alike.
In the 1980s, after years of working away from home, our founder, Mr. Chin-Chih Wu, returned to his hometown of Guanmiao to care for his aging father. It was during this time that he discovered the unique artistry of the town’s traditional sun-dried noodles. Inspired by the profound cultural connection of this craft, he vowed to share it with the world, establishing the Shang Chih Noodle Factory in 1996.
The early days were fraught with challenges. Because production depended entirely on the unpredictable sunshine, retaining workers with stable income was difficult. Furthermore, Guanmiao noodles were still largely unknown outside the region. Undeterred, Mr. Wu poured his heart into promoting the craft, driven by an unwavering belief in his hometown's product.
Moving into the 2000s, Shang Chih Food Co., Ltd. was officially incorporated. Shifting from local direct sales to a nationwide distribution network, Mr. Wu successfully brought Guanmiao noodles to every corner of Taiwan, establishing Sun Chi as the gold standard in consumers' minds.
Yet, excellence was just the starting point. Driven by a passion for innovation, Mr. Wu expanded beyond tradition to develop pioneering products, introducing thick, wavy sliced noodles, thin and curly Farari noodles, and healthy noodles crafted with natural fruits and vegetables. Every single strand is perfected by the pristine, natural sunlight of Southern Taiwan, winning the hearts of consumers everywhere.
In 2011, Shang Chih Food opened its second modern production facility in Guanmiao, welcoming the second generation into the family business. With this new wave of leadership came a strategic vision to systematically preserve and document the rich history of Taiwanese noodle-making.
